The New Zealander left St. Augustine on December 2.

After leaving Bermuda's waters on December 7, Paris sailed into the mid Atlantic Ocean. He is now heading to land in South Africa before returning home.

Paris wrote on his blog: "I should say I am sorry to disappoint so many. But there is one thing I can say and that is, 'I tried,' and that my spirit did not give up."

Paris says there will not be a second attempt.
