Dunn's attorney seeks to delay May 5 retrial

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The new attorney for Michael Dunn has filed a motion for a continuance seeking to delay his murder retrial in the shooting death of 17-year-old Jordan Davis.

A pretrial hearing is scheduled for Wednesday morning.

The retrial on the murder charge is scheduled to begin May 5.

Dunn's lawyer, Waffa Hanania, took over the case March 10.

There has been speculation she may ask for a continuance to give herself more time to prepare.

Dunn was convicted in February of three counts of attempted second-degree murder and one count of firing into an occupied vehicle. A mistrial was declared on the murder charge.
