ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. -

A St. Augustine family is without a home Wednesday morning after a fire broke out. St. Johns County Fire Rescue crews are investigating the cause.

Firefighters responded to a residential structure fire on Lightsey Road near State Road 207 in St. Augustine around 5 a.m.

Crews arrived to find a single-story home with heavy smoke and flames coming from the garage and roof area above it.

Firefighters said the family was able to get out of the home without injuries.

Firefighters established a water supply and began an interior attack on the fire while also completing a search of the home.

The fire was contained in about 25 minutes.

The home sustained significant fire and smoke damage in the garage and roof. The home has not yet been named a total loss by firefighters, but they said it is now uninhabitable.

There were no injuries reported and the cause of the fire is under investigation, firefighters said.
