Ex-substitute teacher sentenced for sex with student

A former St. Johns County substitute teacher has been sentenced on five felony battery chargers for having sex with a teenager.
Stacey Slamka, 49, was arrested in March. She was sentenced to five years of probation and 300 days in jail.
Slamka was credited with one day served. She has to give up her teaching certificate and is not allowed to trespass on any St. Johns County school grounds She is also not allowed to have any isolated contact with minors, but is allowed to attend her child's school functions unless the victim is present.
Slamka must continue with counseling.
Investigators said that between December 2011 and January 2012, she had sex with a 16-year-old boy six times.
Deputies said the two met, then started communicating over the phone and on Facebook. They said she picked him up and took him to Hastings, where they had sex.
School officials said they started investigating Slamka in March 2012 for sending inappropriate text messages to a student, and she was then fired.
She was a substitute teacher at Gamble Rogers Middle School, Pedro Menendez High School, St. Augustine High School, St. Johns Technical High School, Murray Middle School, and Gaines Alternative and Transition Schools.
Slamka had no prior disciplinary issues before the inappropriate texts to a student.
