Family loses Fernandina Beach home to fire

No injuries involved; Red Cross assisting family

FERNANDINA BEACH, Fla. – A Fernandina Beach family is without a home after it was engulfed in flames, early Wednesday morning.

Around 3 a.m. firefighters with Nassau County Fire and Rescue Department responded to a mobile home on Santa Juana Road, near Nassauville Road, in reference to a fire.

A woman was sleeping inside the home at the time of the fire when she awoke to the smell of smoke and was able to escape unharmed, according to NCFR.

There was another resident that was away at work when the fire broke out.

The home was destroyed in the fire.

According to the State Fire Marshal, the fire appeared to be accidental and may have started in the kitchen.

Red Cross is assisting the family with clothing, food and shelter for a few days.
