FHP: Car that caused fatal crash on I-95 sped away

JACKSONVILLE,Fla. – The Florida Highway Patrol says a slow-moving car trying to change lanes to exit I-95 at Duval Road Sunday morning forced an SUV behind to swerve, spin and overturn.

The driver of the second vehicle died.

Troopers say a witness saw a small black Honda Civic or Toyota Carolla driving north in the center lane at less than 10 mph at 11:23 a.m. A Honda CRV driven by 53-year-old Michael Arthur Keegan, of Virginia Beach, Va., also in the center lane, swerved to avoid the slow-moving car, lost control, rotated into the emergency lane, hit the guardrail and overturned.

Keegan was pronounced dead at the scene.

The witness told troopers the first car appeared to exit at Duval Road and fled the scene.

All northbound lanes were closed for more than three hours while the accident was investigated and cleared.
