JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -

Police in Jacksonville are now investigating an arson house fire on the Eastside early Sunday morning as a homicide.

Investigators said a man who was in the home and hospitalized in critical condition later died.

Police said three people were inside the Spearing Street home when the fire started about 4 a.m. The two others suffered minor injuries.

The man who rented the home said he's looking for a new place to live because the home was destroyed.

"I'm very fortunate that I woke up and was able to get everyone out in time," said tenant John Kenney. "When I finally went out the window, the whole front window was engulfed in flames."

Anyone with any information about the homicide is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 866-845-TIPS.
