FHP: Hit-and-run motorcycle crash victim dies

MIDDLEBURG, Fla. – The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal hit-and-run crash involving a motorcycle on Blanding Boulevard in Orange Park on May 1.

Troopers said the victim, 59-year-old Thomas Beaulieu of Middleburg, died at UF Health from injuries sustained in the crash.

According to the FHP report, the crash happened May 1 just before 3 p.m. at the intersection of Blanding Boulevard and Suzanne Avenue. The report says Beaulieu was riding southbound on Blanding Boulevard when an unknown passenger vehicle that was traveling northbound on Blanding turned left in front of Beaulieu, who was forced to try to avoid the car.

Beaulieu's maneuver threw him from the motorcycle and he landed on the roadway. He was taken to UF Health, where he later died.

The unknown vehicle left the scene, troopers said, and there is no vehicle description available.
