FHP monitoring I-10 after wildfire

Smoke may be visible at the Baker-Columbia County line

BAKER COUNTY, Fla. – The Florida Highway Patrol is warning drivers of possible smokey conditions at the Baker County - Columbia County line Tuesday.

FHP is monitoring Interstate 10, from US 441 to just east of Northeast Gun Swamp Road, due to an earlier 25-acre wildfire located south of the Interstate.

Authorities said those in that area may notice residual smoke over the next several days. Motorists are urged to use caution when traveling in the area. Visibility may deteriorate quickly due to smoke/fog type conditions, especially during the night time and early morning hours.

Motorists are reminded to reduce their speed and utilize low beam headlights in order to adapt to changing weather conditions.
