Flags at the Jacksonville Sheriff's office are flying at half mast to honor 43-year-old Tchenter "Center" Wilson, a 15-year veteran of the department who died Friday night in a head-on crash.

The Florida Highway Patrol says Wilson was driving south on Busch Drive in his personal SUV around 7:30 p.m. when he crossed into the other lane and hit a tractor-trailer.

Wilson was rushed to UF Health at Jacksonville, where he died. The driver of the big rig wasn't hurt.

Sheriff John Rutherford issued a statement saying the department's prayers are with Wilson's family, and they stand ready to assist them and his friends in any way they can.

The crash is still under investigation.

A viewing for Wilson will be held from 4-7 p.m. Friday at St. Thomas Family and Life Center, located at 2119 Rowe Ave. His funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Evangel Temple, located at 5755 Ramona Blvd., and his burial will follow at Edgewood Cemetery, located at 4519 Edgewood Ave.
