CLAY COUNTY, Fla. – Clay County emergency management warned Friday afternoon about the dangers of Wright's Lake Dam in Clay County collapsing from excessive rainfall.
Chief Lorin Mock with Clay County Fire Department said the dam had released just before 10 p.m. Friday.

Mock said that the Clay County Emergency Management team notified the National Weather Service of the release, and the weather service quickly issued a Flash Flood Warning for the area.
Chief Mock told Channel 4 that they do not anticipate having to evacuate any residents due to any flooding.
The Clay County Emergency Management team has units sitting on the 209 bridge in Clay County monitoring the water levels.
Water from the 40 acre private lake, located off County Road 315, was released into the Peters Creek basin, culminating in a 50 foot gap in the dam's headwall. No home or property flooding has been reported.
Peters Creek remains closed to boating and other recreational purposes until an assessment can be conducted later today.
