A Florida Highway Patrol motorcycle trooper was injured by a car in Central Florida while assisting in transporting the body of a trooper who was struck and killed over the weekend.

The injured trooper, whose name has not been released, was hurt around noon Monday near the intersection of U.S. Highway 27 and County Road 466 in Lake County, FHP spokeswoman Kim Montes said.

Montes said a driver ran a red light, hitting the trooper and ejecting him from his motorcycle. Montes said he was taken to a hospital in The Villages with minor injuries.

The trooper was escorting the body of Chelsea Richard, who was killed Saturday afternoon in Marion County, from the medical examiner's office to a funeral home.

Richards was struck by a pickup truck while she was investigating another crash on Interstate 75.

A tow-truck driver and third motorist also died in that crash.
