Former Fla. Gov. Charlie Crist involved in bus crash in Orlando

ORLANDO, Fla. – Former Florida Gov. Charlie Crist was involved in a bus accident on Thursday while on tour in Orlando, according to Florida Highway Patrol.

The crash occurred on Sandlake Road near Turkey Lake Road just before 2 p.m.

Troopers said the bus came to a stop due to traffic, so Tina Marie Pun, driving her 2012 Dodge Avenger behind the bus, attempted to change lanes. At that time the bus also attempted to change lanes and Pun struck the left rear of the bus.

Troopers said there were 14 other passengers on the bus with Crist but no injuries were reported.

Pun is charged with careless driving, operating while suspended and failure to report crash to law enforcement agency.

Crist was in Orlando on Thursday for his third stop on his bus tour.

Crist served as a Republican governor from 2007 to 2011 and is now running as a Democrat in the 2014 election.
