Forrest High is changing name

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -

Not only will Nathan Bedford Forrest High School be getting a new name this fall, but it will also have a new mascot.

Last year after the school board decided the school needed a new name, students chose the name Westside High School.

Students held another vote Tuesday to decide whether to keep the Rebels mascot or to change it.

Channel 4 news partner WJCT radio said the winner of that vote was Wolverines.

Superintendent Nikolai Vitti had said the mascot vote would affect the cost of changing the school's name. Right now, it's estimated to be around $400,000.
