AJ McGawely

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -

Friends and family of a Jacksonville teenager who was shot and killed one year ago gathered Thursday night in his northwest Jacksonville neighborhood to remember him.

Family members and friends brought balloons, candles and other mementos to honor AJ McGauley's life.

"This is the first year anniversary of his passing and we just really want to take time to remember him," said Sherry McGauley. "We want to remember him for who he was -- a great person, humble in good spirits."

The 18-year-old was riding his bike along Carleon Road less than a mile from his home when he was shot and killed in what was believed to be a robbery.

In August 2013 another teenager, Darell Moore, was arrested and charged with killing McGauley.
