Woman's body found in wooded area; killer still unknown

ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. – Funeral arrangements have been made for a woman whose body was found in April in a wooded area near St. Johns County.

Visitation for Barbara Parchem, 67, will be held from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. June 21, 2013, at Craig Funeral Home in St. Augustine. Graveside services will be held 10 a.m. June 22, 2013, at Craig Memorial Park.

Parchem, went missing April 5 when she failed to show up for work at the Village Grill Inn restaurant. Her body was found 3 weeks later in a wooded area just south of the St. Johns, Flagler County border.

Police arrested Parchem's daughter, Lilly Ann Chavez, in may as a person of interest in the case. Chavez bonded out of jail, days later on unrelated weapons charges.

Police are still investigating what happened to Parchem. The St. Johns County Medical Examiner's Office said that there were injuries to Parchem's remains consistent with a gunshot wound. In May, the cause of death was changed from blunt force trauma to a gunshot.

Parchem of Elkton, Florida was born in Champaign, Illinois and had lived in Elkton since 1989. She worked for over 20 years at the Village Inn Restaurant.
