Furniture donated to 3 local agencies

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Three charities received brand-new furniture Wednesday, courtesy of Ashley Furniture and the Jacksonville Jaguars.

The Sulzbacher Center, Wounded Warrior Project and Daniel Kids Foundation all received new recliners for their facilities.

The first delivery of the morning was to the Sulzbacher, where new recliners were added to a special entertainment room for the homeless veterans who stay at the center.

"We always feel like someone is out there looking out for us and our needs are always met so we're very lucky to have partners like the Jaguars," said Allison Vega with the Sulzbacher Center.

Jaguars' cornerback Will Blackmon and Ashley Furniture then moved recliners into the Wounded Warrior Project center.

"To see how the community reaches out and shows service members all this support is, you know, it's just a great thing for us; you know we really appreciate it," said Army Staff Sgt. Carlos De Leon.

"Well, they served for us. They protect us, so it's only right for us that it's my duty, I feel, to serve them as well," said Jaguars' cornerback Will Blackmon

The third furniture donation of the day went to the Daniel Foundation, where the chairs were added to Daniel Academy School's reading room.

"Being able to focus on reading, and that's this kind of nice atmosphere. It's really important so we really appreciate what the Jaguars have done for us," said Jim Clark, president and CEO of the Daniel Foundation.

About 100 kids will get to use the recliners in the reading room. The school serves children a part of the Daniel Foundation as well as children in the community who have trouble fitting in at public school.

Blackmon says he hopes to continue to do good in the community because, "It's fun to help others."
