Garbage pick-up holiday changes

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – City officials want to remind Jacksonville residents that garbage pick-up for some areas will be shifted next week because of the Christmas holiday.

Residential garbage, yard waste and recycling will be collected as usual on Christmas Eve (Wednesday). But there will be no residential garbage, yard waste or recycling collect on Christmas Day (Thursday). No appliances will be collected on either day.

Residential garbage, yard waste and recycling normally collected on Thursdays will be collected on Saturday next week (Dec. 27).

Residential garbage, yard waste and recycling will be collected as usual on New Year's Eve (Dec. 31) and New Year's Day (Jan. 1).

The Trail Ridge Landfill at 5110 U.S. Highway 301 will close at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 24, and will be closed on Thursday, Dec. 25. It will resume normal business hours on Friday, Dec. 26, and stay open until 5 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 27.

The Household Hazardous Waste Facility at 2675 Commonwealth Ave. will be closed on Wednesday, Dec. 24, Thursday, Dec. 25, and Thursday, Jan. 1.
