HILLIARD, Fla. -

A precautionary boil water notice was issued Wednesday night for the town of Hilliard.

Due to a broken water main that happened at 4:15 p.m. Wednesday, residents connected to the town water supply is now under the precautionary boil water notice.

Water used for drinking, cooking, making ice, brushing teeth or washing dishes should be boiled. A rolling boil of one minute is sufficient, officials said.

As an alternative, officials said bottled water may be used.

The notice will remain in effect until a bacteriological survey has been completed, according to public works director David Thompson.
