Hit-and-run suspect still sought

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – It's been nearly two months since a hit-and-run driver killed a Jacksonville teen. There have still been no arrests made in the case and the grieving family wants to know why.

D'Quan Armstrong, 14, was hit as he rode his bike along Sibbald Road in late August. Police say the driver took off and Armstrong died at the scene.

Officers say they found the driver a short time later, but an arrest has yet to be made.

"It's been almost two months so we really cannot sleep at night knowing his killer is still out there," said Armstrong's aunt, Shica Dixon.

Dixon said police maintained very little contact with them since the accident. She said police told the family they tested the driver for drugs and alcohol and that the results are pending.

Dixon also said the question of sobriety isn't the issue for the family. It's the fact that Armstrong was left there.

"That's the very hardest thing to know that he was lying helpless in the ditch by himself," Dixon said. "No one took the time to stop. They hit him and kept going."
