How to spot a liar

Spotting a liar might be easier than you think. You just have to know what to look for. Cleveland Clinic Psychologist Dr. Mike McKee says one way to detect a lie is through body language.
"Shuffling their feet and suddenly moving their head this way or that way, just before they tell a lie," he explained.
McKee says a person's breathing will also change. When someone is lying to you they may begin to breathe heavily and their shoulders may shrug.
He adds that a liar may also point at you to exaggerate getting his or her point across or they may repeat the same thing over and over. They may also cover their mouth while they're talking.
McKee says all of these subtle signs are responses to stress.
"What happens is you need to study people a lot, if you have the opportunity, and see what their normal behavior is, so instead of just getting behavior relate to nervousness, you get something that's deviant for them," he said.
McKee says it's typically easier to pick up on a lie when it's someone you know really well who is trying to get one past you.
