Human remains found scene
SATSUMA, Fla. -

A Satsuma resident found adult human skeletal remains in a wooded area Tuesday afternoon, and Putnam County detectives were investigating it as a homicide.

The caller was riding an ATV when he drove up on the remains in the Hoot Owl Ridge neighborhood.

Deputies said the identity of the remains is unknown and the remains under investigation.

Jacksonville police were in Putnam County to see if the remains match any missing persons cases they've been working.

The Florida Department of Law Enforcement crime scene unit was also on scene to assist with processing evidence.

The remains will be transported to the Medical Examiner's Office for examination.

Deputies said additional details regarding this death investigation will be released as soon as they are available.
