JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -

A Jacksonville man has serious injuries after a tire blowout caused him to crash his van on the Southside, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The crash happened at 1:40 p.m. Sunday on I-295 at Baymeadows Road.

Troopers said a tire on a 2001 Ford Econoline driven by Joshua Sterrett, 32,  experienced a tread separation, causing the Sterrett to lose control. The van overturned, throwing Sterrett out. He was taken to UF Health with serious injuries.

Troopers said Sterrett was not wearing a seat belt.
