JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -

The Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department and the State Fire Marshal are investigating a fire that heavily damaged an East Arlington home Friday morning.

According to JFRD, they were dispatched to a home on 1893 Muava Juan Ave. just before 3:30 a.m.

JFRD Battalion Chief David Rounds said a woman asleep inside the home awoke to a noise, sounding like rain.

When the woman realized it was a fire, she woke up her mom and they made it out safe with their pets.

The fire started in the shed and spread to the home, causing heavy damage according to Rounds.

The State Fire Marshal is investigating the cause of the fire.

No injuries were reported.
