JSO cruiser struck in hit-and-run crashes

Investigators say an officer has been taken to the hospital after a driver rammed his SUV into several cars, including a police cruiser, near the intersection Philips Highway and University Boulevard.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -

A JSO officer was taken to the hospital with minor injuries after a driver struck his patrol car in a series of hit-and-run crashes.

JSO tells Channel 4 around 3:30 Saturday afternoon a man driving a white SUV was involved in an accident in the 4000 block of Philips Highway.

A officer pulled behind the SUV and attempted to pull him over.The driver kept going and hit two other cars while driving southbound.

The suspect then hit a JSO cruiser, came to a grass median and attempted to make a U-turn. At that point the suspect crashed into the woods. He was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

The names of the officer and the suspect were not released Saturday night. This story will be updated once more information becomes available.
