Man arrested after attampted kidnapping on Westside

Teen found running from suspect, screaming on Westside

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A man is in custody and being questioned after trying to kidnap a teenage girl on Jacksonville's Westside Sunday, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.

Public Information Officer Christian Hancock told News4jax that officers were called to Rock Pond Meadows Drive around 8:10 p.m.

Hancock said citizens saw a 14-year-old girl running from a man and screaming.

Citizens and off-duty officer David Busekrus subdued the man until JSO officers arrived to arrest him.

Hancock said Busekrus suffered a minor injury while holding the man.

Hancock said the suspect was arrested and is currently being questioned. It wasn't clear what charges he may face Sunday night.

He added that the teen was not hurt and was back home with her family Sunday night.
