The Jaguars open training camp Friday and players reported Thursday. The team also hosted it's annual Back to Football luncheon.
Hundreds got the chance to hear from the team's owner, president, general manager and head coach.
Then there's the stadium upgrades, which will be unveiled Saturday night. The work in the north end zone is just about finished. The cabanas, the pools on the level below and the giant new video boards are set to be unveiled in what Jaguars owner Shad Khan said will be a tribute to Jacksonville.
Khan and team President Mark Lamping talked about the stadium renovation project. Khan said that he has been in the pools already, both of which have now been filled with water.
"That view is amazing," he said. "It's like, maybe should the pool have been a little bit bigger? I can see room for improvement."
Khan said he's excited about Saturday night and showing everyone in Jacksonville what they have to look forward to once the season begins.
"I think it is going to raise the game day experience to a new level," he said. "And I think it is going to set the benchmark for what people should expect when they go to an event."
Fans who had the chance to see it after the luncheon were amazed.
"It's amazing. You can see it from all over and the view from up here is just fabulous," Ann Pinner said. "It's exciting, just great."
"It is incredible," Tony Zeaiter said. "That's the only word I can use. What an improvement to the community, what an improvement to the city, what an improvement to the team. We are so excited and looking forward to it."
It's not just the scoreboards, cabanas and pools that fans saw. They got to see some of the new kickoff club tables, most of which are sold out, like all of the new seating options at EverBank Field. Fans say that seeing it on TV will leave fans around the league with one feeling.
"Jealousy, because they are going to find out that this is a place and a destination not just for soccer matches, but for all big events," Zeaiter said.
The event on Saturday starts at 6 p.m. with the Fulham F.C. vs D.C. United soccer match, followed by the unveiling of the video boards between that and the Carrie Underwood concert.
For fans who can't make it to the event, the Jaguars scrimmage the following Saturday is free to attend. Fans just have to register on Jaguars.com.
