Last-minute shopping wraps up on Christmas Eve

Shopping saga ends night of Christmas Eve

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – After dealing with long lines, parking and people everywhere in sight, the shopping saga ceased Tuesday night.

"It's been crazy. Luckily not too crazy because not too many people, but it's been fun because I've been shopping with my mom," said Natasha Boles.

"The last minute shopping experience has been really terrific, lots of fun with my daughter, Natasha," said Barbara Boles. "It's given us a lot of time to spend together since she's working and I'm working, and we're down visiting with my daughter in Jacksonville and son-in-law who are in the Navy. They're both lieutenant commanders so kudos to them and just Merry Christmas to all and Happy Holidays."

But it hasn't been that enjoyable for everyone, as two girls who also waited until the last day took a breather on a bench at St. Johns Town Center.

"It's crazy. We almost got jipped for a parking spot," said Alexis Puttibach. "People are crazy but it's been fun. We always wait 'til the last minute. We go on Christmas Eve, procrastinate."

"I'm not going to lie, it's been overwhelming. I, like others, have procrastinated evidently and you know what I found out? Yes, gift cards, number one," said Charlie Bilibei. "What I did, I went to Tinseltown, bought all kinds of movie passes, I said, 'Go enjoy a movie.'"

They said they're trying to do better, already starting their Christmas shopping for 2014.

"Starting for next year, and we say that every year and it doesn't happen," said Bilibei.

The Grinch wasn't stealing this Christmas, as most shoppers were happily soaking up the holiday spirit.

"I'm excited the holidays is always the time to get with family and just have fun, and fellowship with friends and family, and eat and get off work," said Natasha Boles.

"Everyone have a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all of you guys," said Bilibei.
