I-TEAM: Local outdoor kitchen company is under investigation

The complaints range from poor customer service, missing equipment and incomplete kitchens

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Customers are contacting the News4JAX I-TEAM with concerns about a local outdoor kitchen company.

The Office of Attorney General has confirmed it’s received 19 complaints involving Premier Outdoor USA. We also learned there’s an active consumer protection investigation.

The complaints range from poor customer service, missing equipment and incomplete kitchens.

“I paid $18,000 for this kitchen. Is this an $18,000 kitchen product? I don’t think so,” John Sierp said.

He’s voicing his frustrations with a local outdoor kitchen company called Premier Outdoor USA.

“We drove by the store, we were in the market for an outdoor kitchen. It looked nice in the front, we went inside and the store is beautiful inside,” Sierp said.

“So I was like, Oh, this is a legit, great company. It seems like real nice. I didn’t look at the reviews, foolishly.”

After contracting with the company in December, John Sierp says he waited another three months for his custom kitchen to be delivered. He filed a complaint shortly after delivery.

“I listed the things that were wrong with the kitchen: the border, the Chinese wonder board, the Chinese sink. That double burner is not a brand name,” Sierp said.

There are a few things he is asking to be fixed. The outdoor fridge doesn’t fit properly and is missing a piece of trim. And the outdoor stovetop is not the brand name he was contracted for, and the pieces don’t fit.

“It was delivered on the 27th of March. After that, no contact, no messages returned. No e-mails returned. I have an e-mail from him basically mocking me for asking for help to fix my kitchen,” Sierp said.

The email from the owner of the company, Shaun Jackrel, reads, “Oh John wants help now? Have a great day John.”

After multiple attempts to reach the company, we stopped by the business on Philips Highway today. We asked for the owner or manager to reach out to us and left a business card. The company has new signage and is now operating under the name, “Outdoor Dream Company.”

The owner got in touch with News4JAX and said his company has no outstanding issues with their customers. He referred us to his standings with the Better Business Bureau.

His company has a B rating with 2.5-stars. There are more than a dozen 1-star reviews and a handful of 5-star reviews posted within the last month.

Shaun Jackrel provided News4JAX with a document proving completion of service of John’s outdoor kitchen. There’s one note that “LED lights were not delivered and installed as promised.”

“The LED lights were supposed to be installed around the kitchen also. And they just refused to come back and refuse to even respond about that. And the LED lights were an incentive for me to pay early,” Sierp said.

“I said, ‘Just do me a favor and come back and give me the stainless steel and I won’t do the things you don’t want me to do. I’m not going to go to the news. I’m not going to give you a bad review.’ And here we are.”

Customers are gathering information for a class action lawsuit against Premier Outdoor USA and other companies associated with the business.
