Locals gather for annual 26.2 with Donna

Thousands raced with hopes of a cure for breast cancer

JACKSONVILLE BEACH, Fla. – Thousands got together Sunday to run and walk in the 26.2 with Donna with hopes of finding a cure for breast cancer.

People from even as far away as Ethopia attended. Many runners were dressed in pink.

"My mom was diagnosed with breast cancer and she passed away. But we need a cure today -- not tomorrow," said Janene Hodgkins.

Several others also told us they knew of someone dealing with breast cancer.

"Lots of friends that are fighting the battle that are fighting the battle as we speak, including my mom and my aunt," said Colleen Jones, who attended the race.

100 percent of the proceeds raised go to breast cancer research and care.

"We love Donna and we love to support Donna and we're gonna continue to support breast cancer every year - finish breast cancer - finish it," said Jerry Jo Fox, a half-marathon runner.
