Man, 27, convicted in 2012 shooting death

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A 27-year-old Jacksonville man was convicted this week for his involvement in the 2012 murder of a 34-year-old man.

Bryan Flowers was found guilty of second-degree murder and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon in the killing of Edward Williams III.

In September 2012, Flowers and co-defendant Jimmie Gardner shot Williams multiple times, prosecutors said. Officers found Williams lying in the parking lot of the Arlington Village Apartments. Williams was transported to the hospital, where he later died as a result of his injuries.

Gardner pleaded guilty last year to one count of second-degree murder and was sentenced to 45 years in prison.

Flowers faces life in prison. He will be sentenced the week of April 14.
