In October 2014, Thomas was involved in a dispute with the two victims at the Exxon Gas Station on 103rd Street. After the argument, Thomas got into his vehicle and began to pull away.

When the victims, who were also brothers, started to leave the gas station, Thomas turned his car around and pulled up next to the driver's side of the victim's car. Thomas fired several shots into the victim's car, striking one of them in the leg. He then fled the scene.

Thomas later turned himself in to police after a warrant was issued for his arrest.
