Police: Cross-dressing robber takes cigarettes

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Police in Jacksonville are trying to identify a man they said dressed as a woman and robbed a CVS store early Saturday morning.

Police said the man went into the store in the 4400 block of San Juan Avenue on the Westside about 2 a.m., walked to the front counter and asked for a carton of cigarettes.

The clerk rang up the cigarettes and the man reached across the counter and tried to snatch the cigarettes out of the clerk's hand, police said.

They said the clerk pulled the cigarettes away and the man reached to his right hip with his right hand and threatened to stab the clerk.

A witness saw the man leave in a silver Nissan Altima.
