Man drives off road, found dead in St. Johns County

ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. -

The St. Johns County Sheriff's Office is investigating the cause of a crash that killed a man in St. Augustine late Tuesday night.

Traffic homicide Investigators with SJSO were called to County Road 16A a few miles south of County Road 210 in St. Augustine at 11:38 p.m. after a deputy on patrol found a crashed vehicle on the side of the roadway.

The driver, identified as 57-year-old Michael Allen Forbes, was driving his 1999 Lexus west on County Road 16A when he ran off the road and struck an embankment, according to the Sheriff's Office.

Investigators say the the driver was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
