Man fakes allergy tests, pleads guilty

The owner of an allergy testing lab has been found guilty in filing fake allergy test results.

Rashaan Jackson Garth, 39, owns Polaris Allergy Labs in Atlanta.  Authorities say he pleaded guilty to health care fraud charges.

According to prosecutors Garth gave his laboratory technician other instructions than to test the blood samples for food and environmental allergies.  Instead, prosecutors say he told the technician to not test the blood sent between September 2012 and February 2014.

Investigators say Garth sent fake results back to patients' doctors  and sent bills for the fake tests to patients' health care benefit programs.  By not having the blood samples tested, prosecutors say Garth was trying to save money.

A sentencing date hasn't been set.
