Man gets life in prison for shooting brother

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A 30-year-old Jacksonville man was sentenced Tuesday morning to life in prison, with a 30-year minimum mandatory, as a habitual offender for his conviction of attempted second-degree murder of his brother.

Jamichea Ziegler also received 30 years in prison, with a three-year minimum mandatory, for the charge of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

He was found guilty of the charges in April.

In October, Ziegler threatened to kill his brother after his brother questioned him about cheating on his girlfriend.

After Ziegler's brother left the home, Ziegler showed up at his brother's new location and continued to argue and make threats.

Ziegler then pulled out a gun and shot his brother once in the stomach before leaving the area.
