Pedestrian hit
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -

A 69-year-old woman is in critical condition after being hit by a car on Blanding Boulevard early Saturday morning, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Dung Nguyen was attempting to cross the intersection of Du-Clay Road and Blanding about 7 a.m. as he walked to a bus stop.

Troopers say a black Cadillac driven by 39-year-old Eassa Akel was going north on Blanding when it struck Nguyen while she was crossing the street.

Nguyen was transported to Orange Park Medical Center for head injuries. Later he was transported to UF Health, where he is in critical condition.

According to FHP, charges are pending.
