Man shot; car crashes into food store

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -

Police responding to a call of a shooting in the area of Hyde Park Road and San Juan Avenue about 8:30 p.m. Wednesday find a gunshot victim in serious condition and a car crashed into a building nearby.

The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office said the victim, whose name was not released, was taken to UF Health with non-life-threatening injuries.

Investigators did not say how the car crashed into the back of the Safeco Food Store was related to the shooting, but no employees or customers were injured.

Police said a person of interest was in custody and being questioned, but released no other information.
