Man leads police chase from Macclenny to Jacksonville

MACCLENNY, Fla. – A man led law enforcement officers in a high-speed chase from Macclenny to Jacksonville on Friday morning, according to the Baker County Sheriff's Office.

Investigators said a deputy tried to pull 19-year-old Joseph Macquarrie over and check his ID about 10:45 a.m. on Fifth Street in Macclenny. They said Macquarrie drove his Mitsubishi Endeavor off onto Interstate 10 eastbound and got off at the Marietta exit in Jacksonville and continued speeding east on surface roads.

The chase ended on Hammond Boulevard, just south of Ramona Boulevard on the Westside.

Deputies said Macquarrie (pictured) got out of his car and ran from police. Jacksonville police officers with the assistance of a K-9 caught him.

He was booked into the Duval County jail on charges of aggravated assault on a law enforcement, attempting to elude police and others.
