JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A 45-year-old Jacksonville man pleaded guilty this week to two counts of first-degree murder for killing his mother and stepfather in 2007.

Ted Taylor was also sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole in the deaths of Dennis and Sandra Biggins.

In January 2007, officers discovered the two victims were stabbed to death inside their Camshire Drive home on the Westside.

The investigation revealed that Taylor had been living with the victims while on parole from Texas for attempted murder.

After stabbing the couple to death, Taylor fled the state but was later arrested in Texas.

Taylor was initially ruled not competent for prosecution. After more than two years in a state mental health facility, the judge found him competent to assist in his own defense.

The state attorney's office filed notice to seek the death penalty, and Taylor has since pleaded guilty.
