JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -

A 21-year-old man was sentenced Tuesday to mandatory life in prison after being convicted of armed robbery and kidnapping with a firearm.

The District Attorney's Office said in January 2013, Bernard White approached a man sitting in his car, pointed a gun at him and forced him out of the vehicle.

After the victim explained to White that he only had his ATM card upon White's demand for money, White forced the man back into the car and drove to an ATM to withdrawal the money.

The DA's Office said the victim was taken to a park before White fled on foot.

White was convicted in April on the charges
