JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -

A 43-year-old Jacksonville man was sentenced to death Tuesday morning for a 2004 murder.

In April, a jury convicted Kim Jackson on a charge of first-degree murder for killing 49-year-old Debra Pearce.

That same jury also recommended that Jackson receive a death sentence.

In October 2004, Jackson slashed Pearce's throat and stabbed her in the chest at her Bennington Drive home.

The crime went unsolved until 2007, when a DNA test on evidence matched Jackson.
