Man shot in head hits pole while driving

Crash happened Sunday in Northwest Jacksonville

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Jacksonville police say a man is in the hospital after his car hit a pole Sunday morning. It happened off Myrtle Avenue and Grothe Street in Northwest Jacksonville.

Officers found the car at 2:20 a.m. They say they later determined the man had been shot in the back of the head. It's not known where he was shot or how long he drove prior to the crash.

Investigators say the man was taken to UF health. Police do not have any suspects and are searching for witnesses.
