Two shootings two miles apart involving a teen and a man on a bicycle have police investigating on the Westside.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -

A man was shot while riding his bicycle on the Westside early Monday morning, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.

Officers responded to South McDuff Avenue around midnight. A man told officers he was shot while riding his bicycle and saw two men fleeing the scene.

The victim was transported to a local hospital and is expected to recover.

Patrol units canvassed the area but were unable to locate the men.

"A lot of people have to go to work on their bikes, and a lot of them (ride) just for pleasure," said Bessie Keaton, who lives in the area. "I think it's not really that safe."

Anyone with information is urged to call Crimestoppers at 866-845-TIPS.
