Man who ran from car accused of kidnapping

ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. -

A man who ran from a stopped car on Interstate 95 early Thursday morning prompted a search that included K-9 teams and a helicopter, according to the St. Johns County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies responded to what was initially reported as a traffic crash in the area of the 320 mile marker of I-95 southbound, where they found a woman who said she was taken from her Jacksonville apartment against her will during the night.

Brandon Bland The victim said she knew the suspect she identified as Brandon Bland (pictured), who drove her to St. Johns County, where she was able to gain control of the 2014 Toyota Camry he was driving and forced him to stop.

Deputies said Bland, 26, of Jacksonville, ran across travel lanes of I-95. When he was later located, Bland was arrested and charged with kidnapping.

Bland was booked into the St. Johns County Detention Facility pending a first appearance.
