A man and woman were arrested Monday morning after St. Johns County deputies said they found an active mobile meth lab in their vehicle.
Deputies responded to the 1100 block of Kerri Lynn Road just before 8:30 a.m. after receiving reports of a suspicious vehicle in the neighborhood.
They found the vehicle in the area, which was occupied by Scott Smith, 37, and Amanda Albert, 29. Deputies said they saw what appeared to be the precursors to make methamphetamine in the vehicle, and investigators later confirmed that.
Smith and Albert were decontaminated on scene and arrested.
Albert, of St. Augustine, was charged with manufacturing methamphetamine, possession of methamphetamine, possession of a controlled substance, possession of Suboxone, possession of drug paraphernalia and violation of probation.
Smith, 37, no address, was charged with manufacturing methamphetamine, possession of methamphetamine, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
The two were transported to the St. Johns County jail, where they will remain pending first appearance.
Deputies said additional charges in the case are expected as the criminal investigation continues.
