Mom: Son's killer 'has no heart'

No arrests made in shooting death of 21-year-old at nightclub last month

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Nearly a month after 21-year-old Brandon Green was shot and killed at a Southside nightclub, his parents are speaking out.

Green was killed the night of Sept. 8 at Mascara's Gentleman's Club, and still nobody has been arrested.

Green's parents say it has been a difficult month dealing with the loss of their son. They say what makes it worse is knowing that hundreds of people were inside the club when the shooting happened, but police haven't made an arrest.

"The guy that killed my son, he has no heart," said Harriet McNeal, Green's mother. "He's out there somewhere getting away with a crime and probably would do it again."

McNeal said her son (pictured, right) was just like any other 21-year-old. He was hardworking and enjoyed spending time with his friends on the weekends. She said he also loved his 1-year-old daughter, who will now never know her father.

"Why my son? What did he do to you for you to come up to him and shoot him in the head in front of hundreds of people? You don't have a heart," McNeal said. "She'll never see this man is her dad. She'll never have any thoughts about him, and that's not right. This man's out walking around."

The family said that with so many people in the club at the time of the shooting, someone has to have seen something.

"If it was your kid that this man killed, wouldn't you want somebody to come up and say something?" McNeal said. "Don't sit around and act like, 'Oh, it's cool.' It's not cool. That doesn't make you cool."

Green's parents say it's time for senseless killings like this to end.

"How does this guy get in there with the gun?" McNeal said. "If the guy wouldn't get in there with the gun, my son was to be alive today."

The family's attorney, John Phillips, has offered a $1,000 reward for any tips leading to an arrest and conviction in this case. That is in addition to any Crime Stoppers reward someone would be eligible for by calling 866-845-TIPS.
