JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -

A motorcyclist was transported to UF Health with life-threatening injuries after a head-on crash early Friday evening, according to troopers with the Florida Highway Patrol.

Troopers said a motorcycle was eastbound on the State Road 115 service road from Arlington Road about 6:40 p.m. when it struck a Kia Forte that was exiting S.R. 115 onto the service road westbound.

The motorcyclist, 28-year-old Jason McNair of Jacksonville, was not wearing a helmet, according to the Florida Highway Patrol's crash report.  Neither the driver of the Kia -- 29-year-old Matthew Bennett -- or a passenger was injured.

Troopers say McNair did not yield the right-of-way to the Kia.
