NASSAU COUNTY, Fla. – Channel 4 learned more Wednesday night about the Nassau County deputy who was involved in a shooting that killed 21-year-old Anthony Bartley.
Bartley's family told Channel 4 that he was unarmed the night Deputy Wilfred Quick shot and killed him. Police said Bartley attacked Quick, who was then forced to shoot him.
Channel 4 was able to look through Quick's personnel file Wednesday night. Over a 10-year period, Channel 4 found that Quick has been disciplined a handful of times, but there are also some commendations in Quick's file.
In 2003, while on probation as a corrections officer, Quick was reprimanded for asking a new recruit to lie about searching inmates. At that time Quick was fired, but then rehired to the corrections department.
Then in 2008, Quick was commended for his work in arresting a convicted felon during a traffic stop. The felon was in possession of two firearms during the stop. In a letter, Sheriff Tommy Seagraves thanked Quick for his professionalism and attention to detail.
In February 2013, Quick was reprimanded after crashing a patrol car. According to his file, Quick crashed his car while going 90 mph with no seatbelt and it's stated that he was not responding to an emergency. Quick's punishment included his off-duty employment and take-home car privileges were suspended for 30 days.
Last summer, supervisors rated Quick's performance as satisfactory, saying that he met expectations in his work ethic, intuitive, safety and exceeded expectations in customer service.
Bartley's family questions why Quick is still on the job after seeing his past.
"Me, personally, I wonder why he is still on the force," said Bartley's sister, Samantha Delon.
Delon told Channel 4 that her brother was unarmed and was just visiting friends in the neighborhood. The Nassau County Sheriff's Office said deputies were responding to a burglary call in Yulee and that Bartley attacked Quick. According to the Sheriff's Office, Quick used a Taser on Bartley but it was ineffective.

"I don't know what happened, why it happened, but I know there was no reason for my brother just to sit there and get killed the way he did," said Delon.
The Florida Department of Law Enforcement is investigating this incident while Quick is on paid administrative leave.
