YULEE, Fla. – A Nassau County Sheriff's deputy was arrested Friday on charges involving sex with a child.
Alan Manchester was charged with one count of sexual battery and one count of lewd and lascivious behavior with a minor. The 47-year-old is a resource officer at Yulee High School.
Nassau County Sheriff Bill Leeper says the charges stem from a request his office received last month to look into an incident that allegedly happened about 10 years ago. Leeper says he turned over the information to the State Attorney's Office to investigate. That office made the arrest on Friday.
Leeper referred us the State Attorney's office for details about their findings, but says the incident does not involve Yulee High School or any students there.
Leeper says his office will conduct an internal investigation. Manchester will be suspended without pay pending termination.
